Press Release / Public Notice

To All Affiliated Schools of IBSSO

Constitution of Special/Adhoc Committee for IBSSO to Safeguard the Participation Rights of Students in the National School Games

Lucknow, 11 September 2025 – The School Games Federation of India (SGFI), a national sports federation recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and affiliated with the International School Sports Federation, is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that every student-athlete has the opportunity to participate in the National School Games, free from the constraints of administrative disputes or the suspension of any affiliated unit.

Background and Authority

  1. Following the suspension of the affiliated unit, the International Board Schools Sports Organisation (IBSSO), and in response to numerous representations from parents, school authorities, and other stakeholders, the SGFI has recognized the urgent need to establish an alternative mechanism to protect the rights and welfare of affected players.
  2. Utilizing the powers granted under Clause 25(b) of the SGFI Constitution, a Special Executive Committee Meeting was convened on 07 September 2025.
  3. In this meeting, it was unanimously resolved, in alignment with the principles of natural justice and the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011, to form a Special/Adhoc Committee responsible for overseeing trials, registrations, and selections for players from schools previously under the suspended IBSSO unit.

Objective of the Committee

The primary aim of the Committee is to safeguard the participation rights of student-athletes by:

  • Facilitating direct registration and trials for eligible players unable to compete through their respective State Championships due to IBSSO's suspension.
  • Communicating effectively with all affected schools to provide timely information on trial dates, venues, and procedural requirements.
  • Ensuring a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection process in accordance with SGFI regulations and the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011.
  • Supervising the online registration process on the portal and resolving any disputes that may arise during the trials.

Forthcoming Online Registration Portal

To enhance participation and provide a direct interface for schools, the SGFI will soon launch a dedicated online portal. This platform will allow IBSSO-affiliated schools to register their players directly for the National School Games.

The portal will be activated upon the receipt of the official list and contact details of all IBSSO-affiliated schools, ensuring accurate and secure communication.

Composition of the Special/Adhoc Committee

The following officials have been appointed to the Committee with the approval of the Hon’ble President of SGFI:

  • Mr. Mukhtej Singh Badesha - Vice President, SGFI
  • Mr. N R Murali - Member, Executive Committee, SGFI
  • Mr. Dhirsen A Soreng - Joint Director, Jharkhand
  • Mr. P C Yadav - Deputy Director, Uttar Pradesh
  • Mr. Naim Ahmed - Technical Member & Coordination In-charge

The Committee is empowered to carry out its duties with immediate effect and until further notice from the SGFI Executive Committee.

Direction to All Stakeholders

  • All IBSSO-affiliated schools are urged to fully cooperate with the Committee and adhere promptly to its communications and instructions.
  • Parents, coaches, and players are encouraged to stay vigilant for official SGFI notifications and utilize the forthcoming portal for direct registration once it becomes operational.
  • All SGFI State/UT units are to provide necessary assistance to facilitate trials and ensure seamless participation for affected players.
